Not everyone is gifted with good eyesight. Some are born with eyes barely good enough to see, some lose the ability to see clearly halfway through life. Good thing modern technology has finally caught up and found a remedy to this foggy dilemma: laser eye correction.
Laser eye correction, or eye surgery or ocular surgery, is a form of medical surgery performed on the eye or its adnexa to cure a host of eye problems. It is – and should be – performed by an ophthalmologist, what you call an eye doctor. And the word “laser” wasn’t put there just for kicks. Laser eye correction is a sensitive procedure that, in most cases, uses lasers to treat severe eyesight conditions.
The human eye is by far one of the most sensitive parts of the body. So if you’re going under the knife for laser eye correction, finding an ophthalmologist who is fellowship trained wouldn’t hurt.
Laser eye correction is also used to treat other eye conditions, not just eyesight problems. This includes treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, as well as involving corneal surgery. But as far as laser eye correction goes, while everyone is free to have a go at it, if you somehow develop bad eyesight, it is still recommended for you to seek the advice of a trained eye doctor. Hey, you never know. It’s best to be prepared.
